W.S.D.G. will both edit and co-ordinate with Client on 100 pages of Client's manuscript (or book) to develop the current 100 pages of manuscript (or book) to an improved, final manuscript, which will encompass two (2) Phases as outlined below. Further, W.S.D.G. will provide commentary and, where applicable, "assignments" for the Client on storyline development, character development, and dialogue. W.S.D.G. will make recommendations for revision and/or rewrite as required. This Developmental Editing service does not include the final copyediting.
W.S.D.G will read 100 pages of the manuscript (or book) and provide initial feedback and suggestions, in writing, for improving the manuscript’s (or book's) structure and overall effectiveness. Assignments will also be given to the Client with the aim of improving storyline development, character development, and dialogue, where and when W.S.D.G. believes it necessary for overall story-flow within the 100 pages.
W.S.D.G. will developmentally edit 100 pages of the manuscript (or book) with edits, and samples where required, aimed at improving storyline, character, and dialogue. The 100 pages will be provided to Client as a MS Word Document or PDF.
TERM & DELIVERY:
The Developmental Editing service will be completed within 30 days from the purchase of this service by Client, and will be provided to Client as an MS Word Document or, should the client require, as a PDF document.
All materials—manuscript (or book)—provided by Client to W.S.D.G., and any resulting work will be and remain the property of Client and may not be used in any way except as authorized by Client in writing.
Should W.S.D.G. terminate the agreement, the W.S.D.G. will be paid for hours accumulated at the rate of $75/hour, said payment not to exceed the purchase price of the Developmental Edit service. Should Client terminate the agreement, W.S.D.G. will be entitled to the monies paid for the Developmental Service and Client will receive all work completed at the time of Client’s termination. The parties hereto agree that termination in the form of an email will be sufficient to end the relationship.
No guarantees are made as to the salability or marketability of the developmentally edited manuscript (or book).
Editing is a process of offering advice and suggestions to the Client. While W.S.D.G. will make every effort to bring questionable material to the attention of Client, the Client agrees to indemnify and hold harmless W.S.D.G. from any and all claims and demands, including legal fees, arising out of any alleged libel or copyright infringement committed by Client in creating/redrafting the 100 pages.
Both parties agree that this contract shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of the State of California, as applied in San Francisco.
By purchasing this Developmental Editing service Client hereby agrees to ALL the terms and conditions as outlined above. All sales are FINAL.
